(Music Video) Reflection 15th May - Filming.

Today, i met up with my two performers to record my music video, last week i found good locations to film at, so our plan was to go to Canary Wharf and record parts of my music video, as we got to Canary Wharf i noticed that the weather wasn't going to be good, this was a problem because i needed to record some b roll shots, so i overcame the issue by recording my b rolls first instead of recording my performers lip syncing. While i was setting up my equipment my female performer 'Justine' told me that she really didn't want to be the main character so she asked be if i could change the song so that my male performer was the main character, this was a process that slowed me down because i had no choice but to change the song, i couldn't force someone to lip sync so i had to work around my performers too, so after a couple of minutes my male actor suggested a song which fitted the theme however it instead of 'Justine' being the main character it would be my male performer 'Che' the song that he suggested was Rihanna by Yxng Bane, i listened to the song and i had no issue because i didn't need to change my storyboard or my filming schedule because the song fit it perfectly, this was good because it didn't slow me down even more so i could just film straight away.

Moving onto the time of filming the lip syncing, it went really well because of the fact that I had everything in order in terms of having both of my performers with me so I ready to record everything, and having my storyboard and planning schedule with me helped because i just had to follow it in order and make sure its correct. It was just up to me to have good camera angles and good camera movement, moreover while i recording i had looked back at my music video from last year and i quickly took what was good from it and used it to record today, and i remembered what i needed to improve on from last year so i took into account that i should not make the same mistakes and improve within this music video.

When I was filming some of the scenes I could of filmed it much better in terms of me using different angles and shots for example I kept using one angle most of the time. I could of added high angles and low angles this would have created a different effect on the viewer because camera angles can connote a lot of things. Within my camera movement i think it was smooth and really effective, for example i moved my camera around a bit to add more movement, this would create an effect to capture everything but have a small effective effect while post production, however while recording i knew i was lacking equipment, during pre production i knew that i would require different lenses for example a 55mm lens, this lens would of helped me capture more of the scenery and the nice backgrounds, this is because that lens is a wide lens and is used for things like that, moreover i knew i would of needed a steadi-cam, this was a key part of my filming but unfortunately i couldn't find one, i had asked my technician but my college didn't have one, so i had to work without the two main attachments to my camera but i think i done well without the two.

Finally to end the day, Che suggested another location to film at which was right outside his flats, i thought it was a perfect place to record because it had a lot of greenery and i knew it would fit my theme, however i had an issue with my camera running out of battery, so i had to charger the battery as i didn't have a spare one, this took about 30min and i was worried about the sun setting, luckily i was able to record before the sun set so it was fine.

To conclude, today was a good day overall i had ups and downs but i overcame all the issues i had, one thing that i am proud of is that i've got more than one location, this makes the music video much better because the audience wouldn't be bored and would be more entertained, also it would help me within post production meaning i will have a lot of clip to choose from and i put together to make a really good music video.
