Production Research- Equipment

Image result for Canon 5D Mk IIFor my production research i will need to list all the equipment is would need to create my final project, The main equipments i will need at the start of this project is a dslr camera, tripod and a shoulder rig. Why i use a Dslr camera? Dslr cameras have many technical functions that a normal bridge camera wouldn't have, from my research online i found out that when the Canon 5D Mk II arrived in November 2008, with a function to shooting HD (high definition) video, it turned the world of independent filmmaking completely on its head. With its amazing capabilities at low light, ability to shoot with a really shallow depth of field and of course relatively cheap price tag (more on this later) the camera suddenly made it extremely easy and affordable for people to shoot stunning cinematic videos. I chose to use a dslr rather than a bridge camera because it has features that are better and really effective these are things like the Optical sensor, it is generally better, Interchangeable lenses, better zoom and macro capabilities. Interchangeable lens are important because it will help me record and find the perfect lens depending on my shot planned, for example certain lens would be good for wide shots and some would be good for close ups.

I would use a tripod for still shots of locations, for example if i needed to create a time lapse i can use a DSLR camera and put it on a tripod, the reason for this is for a smooth and continuous shot or the desired location, however for my final project i doubt that i will be using a tripod as my camera movements would be fairly fast and it wouldn't require a tripod. From my research i found out that the main reason that a tripod is used is to allow photographers to capture images using slow shutter speeds (long exposure) for example in astrophotography where there is not enough ambient light to hand hold the camera with out introducing shake into an image. However this is reason why i wouldn't need it as much because i will be creating a music video.

Moreover another main equipments i would be using is a shoulder rig and a steadicam, these would help me a lot with my filming especially with the fast pace movements in my music video, the reason for me using a shoulder rig is capture smooth footage, this helps me capture footage without it detecting any shakiness, this is the same as the steadicam, however these both look different, the first image shown is a steadicam and the second image is a shoulder rig. For my research on steadicam i found out that, these camera stabiliser mounts for motion picture cameras invented by Garrett Brown and introduced in 1975 by Cinema Products Corporation. They mechanically isolates the operator's movement, allowing for a smooth shot, even when the camera moves over an irregular surface.

Finally i would require an editing software programme, this could either be final cut pro x or premiere pro, however i would also like to use after effects because i want to develop my skills within new programmes, i believe this would help with future upcoming projects.
