(1) Case Studies - Amelia Monet ft EO - Baddest (Music video)
The music video has intrigued the audience mid way through, the viewers can clearly see at this point that the music video about some sort of relationship because there's a Female and Male singer in the scene and the lyrics link together with the actions taken in the music video this can been seen on the image shown above. These two singers are fairly happy and the audience will want to know the story behind it, for example it would want to leave the audience to go do research about these two singers and ask themselves questions.
The composition of this music video is put really well, I could tell this from the camera angles and framing used while recording this music video, however this is music video is made professionally and it can be seen that it has been made by a professional videographer, I can tell this because they perfected every stylistic code, Stylistic codes can be described as codes and conventions
that have become common practices when creating media products, as in this, a music video. Stylist codes
vary across different genres and media sectors. There are 7 stylistic codes these are,
Colour, Framing and angle, Movement Composition or navigation, Mise en scene, Editing of moving image and finally Sound.
The editing in this music video is really professionally done and it would be really effective to the viewer as it wouldn't bore them. The editing is done really with a lot of creative intentions, there are some really good editing in this music video, for example I can see that they have made cuts on each frame to match the beat to make it as a flicker effect, this can be seen at 0:26 seconds in the music video, another editing process that has been really good and effective in this music video is colour correction, colour correction is almost added in every professional shot music video also mainly in films, Colour correction is a technique of matching and balancing colours throughout a music video or any type of video, while colour grading is intended purpose is to give the video a certain tone or feeling, in this instance it wants the viewer/audience to feel as if they are part of the music video, or it could leave them imagining how it would feel to be in the singers point of view. Colour Correction makes a huge difference in video footage, for example as seen on the image below, there is the male singer dressed up very classy, however I can tell colour correction was added to this shot, I can tell this by looking at the clothes, as seen he is wearing a yellow puffer jacket, I can see that the yellow has been made more bright to stand out, along as colour correction the sun in the shot also helped a lot. Finally the editing to sync the lyrics and the lip syncing is really good, they have matched each word for word without having any delays or being ahead, if this was to be the issue the music video would have been very bad and peoples first intentions of this music video would be very negative.
This type of music isn't a live performance, however it is a choreographed and lip synched music video, so it was planned before recording the two actors/singers were told what to do while lip syncing.
